Why Fierce Fitness Mobile Training? I’ve known Selina (owner) since high school. After graduating, we went our separate ways but reconnected after I saw she was conducting boot camp classes, lifestyle changes and personal training sessions. About two years ago, I signed up to dedicate an hour of my life every Friday to train hard for myself. To work with Selina on building strength and cardio. I started handling her social media feeds as well as her website and she allowed me the opportunity to do my training with her boot camp classes. Then she offered me space in her gym to offer yoga and grow within her community. It was a partnership waiting to happen. Rest and recovery, breathing and movement, including stretching is just as important as the weight training or a cardio workout. One compliments the other. It was an offer too good to pass up. I can’t imagine a time where I wouldn’t be hosting classes out of her gym.
What drew Lisa to yoga … Like others, my life has had its share of ups and downs. When I started taking yoga classes, I was in a relationship that didn’t do much by way of building me up and making me feel confident. But the day it really clicked for me was the day I dragged myself to a class just days after my mother had a stroke. Something inside was screaming that I needed to go to that class. Once I reached a point where I was comfortable leaving my mother, I went. I met my space on the mat and for the first time, I had that feeling of safety. I was held by the earth and the community that gathered around me for that class even though many of them had no idea what was going on in my life. I was right where I belonged. I was home. At that point everything just faded. I connected with my breath, I moved my body and I pushed myself. When the class finished, I spent the next 10 minutes crying on my mat. The release was exactly what I needed to connect with myself, my emotions. When I left, I felt like a new person. I was rejuvenated. I was able to do more for my family and myself. That’s the day I fully understood the power that was behind yoga. I met my mat every day for a month after that experience and really started to tune into myself and my feelings. And we brought my mother home and still celebrate her being here with us daily. I honestly can’t picture my life without yoga.
